Shelter Insurance offers scholarships

February 17, 2009 By: Guru Category: Education News, Scholarship, Study Abroad

This spring, one graduate of St. Joseph High School and Conway Christian High School will receive a $1,500 scholarship from the Shelter Insurance Foundation.

The award will be sponsored and partially funded by local Shelter agents Fred L. Tate and John C. Tate.

Scholarship recipients will be chosen by a committee of local high school officials and community leaders.

The committee will consider each applicant’s scholastic achievements, educational goals, citizenship, moral character and participation and leadership in school and community activities.

The scholarship will be given without regard to race, disability, religion, national origin or gender of applicants.

Names of the scholarship winners will be announced at the close of the school year.

The scholarship may be applied toward tuition, fees and room and board for any course of study beginning the fall after the recipient’s high school graduation and leading to an academic degree at an accredited college or university.

Applications and additional information about the Shelter Foundation Scholarship will be available in early March and should be completed and returned to the school official serving on the selection committee by March 31.

For more information, interested seniors should contact their high school counselor or principal or Fred or John Tate.
