One of the objectives of the Lancaster County Farm and Home Foundation is to encourage the higher education of the youth of Lancaster County. In this respect the Foundation is announcing the offering of scholarship awards for students beginning their freshman year in 2009 studying Agriculture or Family and Consumer Sciences.
Each scholarship award will be in the amount of $1,000 per year renewable for up to four years and may be used to help defray tuition, fees, or room and board expenses at any accredited educational institution, which offers a course of study in Agriculture or Family and Consumer Sciences. Scholarships are awarded on financial need, leadership, and academic achievements. (more…)

For the 13th consecutive year, the Pee Dee Federal Credit Union Board of Directors has approved $2,000 in scholarship funds to be awarded for the 2009 fall semester. Francis Marion University and Florence-Darlington Technical College will each receive $1,000 to award to three credit union members.
Incoming freshmen must have a 3.0 or better grade point average to qualify for the scholarships. The schools choose the recipients using guidelines set by the credit union. The deadline to apply for these scholarships is April 1. (more…)

This spring, one graduate of St. Joseph High School and Conway Christian High School will receive a $1,500 scholarship from the Shelter Insurance Foundation.
The award will be sponsored and partially funded by local Shelter agents Fred L. Tate and John C. Tate. (more…)

The Fabricators & Manufacturers Association (FMA) Foundation and software provider SolidWorks Corp. announce the “GO-Brennan” Scholarships, tied to FMA’s sponsorship of 17-year-old stock car driver Brennan Palmiter’s 2009 racing season. Palmiter is proficient in four types of welding, a skill he uses to motivate other young people to consider the industrial trades as a career choice.
Palmiter appears in a video on YouTube inviting high school, trade school and college students to apply for the scholarships by posting their own video. (more…)

The New Paltz Regional Chamber of Commerce Foundation is accepting applications for two $1,000 scholarships to be awarded in 2009, recognizing individuals who have had a positive impact on their community, school or workplace.
Completed applications must be received by May 15. Decisions will be made in June. (more…)

As part of its National campus outreach and Scholarship Program to encourage young students to pursue a viable career in Tax, TaxDiversity has announced the first recipients of its 2008 scholarship awards. The Illinois Sheriff’s Association will award more than $53,000 in college scholarships throughout the state to students pursuing a degree in higher education during the 2009-10 academic year.
Applicants must be enrolled full time at a certified institution of higher learning in Illinois, be an Illinois resident and be enrolled as a full-time student during 2009-10 (excluding summer session). (more…)

Two high school seniors earned the prestigious Laut Scholarship for full tuition to Wheeling Jesuit University and were surprised with $100,000 oversized checks at their schools.
Rebecca Olsavsky, a senior at The Linsly School, and Sara Fowler, a senior at Wheeling Central Catholic High School, received the scholarships from university officials, who delivered the news in person. (more…)

The Kernersville YMCA wants to raise $142,500 for scholarships.
It’s called the Partner With Youth Campaign and it includes teenagers helping solicit donations.
“I appreciate the values and I think they’ve really as I’ve been growing in my teen years. I think they’ve all really shown among my peers, and I hope I can put those same values on other people. And that’s another reason why I’ve been helping out with the Partnering With Youth Campaign,” explained Campaign Captain, Zach Gignac. (more…)
